Job Vacancy – English Teacher
Are you passionate about giving young people a hope and a future and demonstrating that passion in a practical and caring way? Do you have experience of teaching English? Do you have the patience and empathy necessary to work with young people who have not thrived in mainstream education?
Wings South West is a registered charity with a desire to have a real impact on the lives of disadvantaged individuals living in the North Devon and Torridge area. One of the ways we do this is through education projects in which we work with local education establishments to provide alternative education to young people. As part of this we are looking for an experienced and compassionate English Teacher to teach both functional skills and GCSE English to both 14-16 year olds and post 16 learners working in small groups.
You will be joining a team of compassionate and caring individuals, from a range of backgrounds, who together support learners with their differentiated education and social needs – aiming towards the best outcomes for them and the opportunity of progression. Learners all have SEMH (social, emotional and mental health needs), which can include a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD or mental health conditions.
Visits to Wings are strongly encouraged, it is hard to describe and a wonderful place to be! Please get in touch to arrange a visit or for an informal chat with Steph (education manager) on 01237 471471 or via email steph@wingscharity.com.
For more information about the role please see the job description and person specification documents and to apply please complete the job application form and return to Stephanie Fry by email (steph@wingscharity.com) before the closing date of Friday 17th January at 12pm. Please note, for the right candidate and pending additional funding, there may be the opportunity to combine this teaching role with an opportunity to lead intervention work for 14-19 year olds. Please state on the application form if this is something you would be interested in.
